I am a family, local, and house historian and speaker. My interest in family history was sparked when at the age of ten I saw a family tree which had been constructed by a 19 th century ancestor of mine - I was hooked! I conducted research on my own family for many years, using a multitude of different records from the UK and other countries. I have been a professional genealogist for several years
and I am an associate with the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA). In 2021 I took an intensive course on tracing your house history. I have attended numerous other courses include two on Local History, Title Deeds, Manorial Records, and Mapping Strategies for Family Historians. I am progressing my studies with the correspondence course with the Institute of
Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS).

I am a member of the British Association of Local History (BALH), Society of Genealogists (SOG), Historical Association (HA), One Place Studies (OPS), Hampshire Genealogical Society (HGS), and other family history societies. I volunteer with SOG as an online host and cohost for their courses and lectures. With HGS I am their liaison officer and bookstall manager and attend numerous        family history shows throughout the country.

I thoroughly enjoy combining family and local history together when researching a house history.

My interest in family history started in 1979 when the first televised family history programme aired. At the same time, my history O-level included the history of architecture. Since then I have remained interested in family, local and house history and have attended many courses including Local History, Title Deeds, House History and Mapping Strategies for Family Historians. In 2021 I passed, with distinction, the Pharos Tutors/Society of Genealogists Family History Skills and Strategies Intermediate Certificate. My studies continue with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies correspondence course which will lead to the Higher Certificate in Genealogy.

I have been an associate with AGRA, the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives since 2023. Other memberships include the British Association for Local History, the Society of Genealogists, the Society for One-Place Studies, and several family history societies.
